The Country and the Cows

The humans took a little trip to the country today, to check on the country cottage, and of course, Betsy Bear trotted along to torment those poor bears who have the misfortune to have their den near the lake. I just hope they thought to invest heavily in honey insurance before they settled down to snooze back in the fall. Betsy's crimes aren't the worst result of this visit, though. While she was up there, looting and pillaging, she happened to spot several herds of cows, and noted all of the manure in their pastures. And, of course, once she got home, she shared this news with the rabbits in exchange for a suitable honey bribe. The bunnies were absolutely thrilled, and now they are hopping everywhere, gathering rakes, shovels and sacks, and making plans to ride along with the humans when they go back tomorrow to check out a possibly damaged shingle, so that they can offer to clean up the cows' dwelling for them. They're sure the cows will be thrilled to let them help out, and the manure will be wonderful for their garden. Really, those rabbits ought to be ashamed. What are the cows going to do, when their farmer comes along, looking to collect that manure to sell, and it is all gone? How in the world will they ever explain that they were bad cows, and handed it over to a batch of bunnies? The cows will be in a ton of trouble, and it will all be those rabbits' fault!

Today's Country Visit

I would like to offer my apologies to all of the poor people in the country, and especially to those poor lake bears. Betsy Bear went along with the humans when the went up there today, and I'm afraid the lack of supervision was awful! The humans even let that horrible bear stay in the cottage on her own while they popped out for supper. I think everyone here can pretty safely guess what happened. Our neighbors have still not learned their lesson about securing their boat, and naturally that horrible bear got her paws on it. I don't even want to think about the unguarded electric wheelchair she found and the uses she might have put that to.

Tomato Festival

Those insane humans up in the country are having a festival in honor of the tomato. Obviously the incidents last year have slipped their minds is all that I can say about that. Betsy was very pleased to see the info on it, and I'm shuddering to think of what will happen when she gets to the Civil War reenactment. Those people do such a poor job of guarding their cannons and other firearms it isn't funny. I can only assume that the people who took part in the actual Civil War did much better, or else there wouldn't have been a whole lot of warring due to weaponry being made off with by Betsy's ancestors. Those poor lake bears. Obviously the people in charge of the Civil War stuff are kin folk to our neighbors who never guard their boat. Betsy's anticipating equipping it like a proper pirate vessel now. Those poor lake bears, and pretty much anyone in the vicinity is doomed.

Courthouse

The human had to go up to the courthouse today, I'm very afraid for something connected with that family tree, since I'm sure those poor mountain and lake bears haven't managed to swear out a complaint against Betsy Bear yet. I'm sure a complaint against her would result in a visit from the SWAT team. But anyway, my prairie dog brother snuck along, and would you believe he got info on exactly where the property lines are? So now those rabbits know exactly how close to the neighbors' dwellings they can plant their stuff, and still be legal. They're sure it will open up tons more planting space for them. I wonder if the neighbors have thought of moving?

The Country

If anyone here prays, please pray that the lawnmower isn't repaired by tomorrow afternoon. If it is, there are rumors the humans might head to the country cottage, and I will surely be caught and drug along. It's in the heart of tomato country up there, and I shudder to think of what the bunnies would get into. Our poor cousins, the two farmers Turley, are still having nightmares about the last visit the rabbits made, I believe. And I won't even speak of the havoc Betsy wrecked with those poor, misfortunate lake bears, and the former, happy picnickers who were the victims of pirate raids.

Reunion Update

Four bunnies hopped along to the reunion along with Betsy Bear. I shudder to think of what trouble those rabbits might have caused. Bad enough the damage Betsy did. The lake was running nice and high, and loads of boaters were out. I am expecting to see a breaking news special on pirate attacks at any time. The human dropped by two cemeteries too, and given how distracted she gets in grave yards, I'm afraid to ask what the rabbits got up to. So many people up there had gardens out, and I'm sure they would take the bunnies collecting stuff from them the wrong way. Bad enough they hopped home with two packs of collards, a pack of spinach and a pack of corn. All but the corn is in baggies to start now.

Reunions

The humans are making plans to go to a reunion this weekend, and it's unfortunately up where those poor lake bears live. I wonder how I can find the phone number for their den? Betsy's making plans to stow away, and you know she's going to drop by to snitch all of their food.

If Anybody Asks

If anybody asks, I was here all day, and didn't leave the house. The furthest I've got from this computer was peering out the back door and windows, trying to decide where my catnip crop should go, and thus can not in any way, shape or form be held responsible for Betsy's crimes! That delinquent bear went to the country today, to our humans' lake cottage. There's a family of bears who live up there, on a island out in the lake. Poor, poor bears. Our foolish neighbors up there left their boat unguarded, and while the humans were busy removing leaves someone had swiped from another neighbor's mulch pile and dumped on the cottage, Betsy swiped the free boat and took off. I don't know what those poor lake bears will do when their alarm goes off and they awake to find their pantry bare, I really don't. I just want it known right now that I have an alibi and am not to blame for any of this!
