Squash Report

I have horrifying news. The squash is flowering! The bunnies hopped out to check it out, and then came in, squealing about the arrival of the first blossoms. Oh, this doesn't bode well at all! Those blossoms are sure to become squash, and can only lead to the rabbits getting a huge harvest. And I just know they're plotting to find some work for me related to this gardening, and harvesting.

Sorry to Announce

I am very sorry to announce the continuing health of the squash in the bunnies' garden. I'm afraid we've had a good bit of rain recently, and it has provided horrible encouragement for the plant. It's rather fat at the moment, and bright green, just lounging out there, waiting for the rabbits to start lagging out gallons of milk to feed it, and encourage more growth. I've seen suspicious movement from the watermelons as well, and I just know those things are plotting their path to our poor neighbors' homes even as we speak.

Sprouts

I am very upset to announce that the first seeds that the bunnies planted have started to sprout. They hopped out today, to put out more things, and came rushing in to announce that alarming amounts of squash are popping up, and they believe a few cucumbers too. Oh, and the first Ukraine cucumber is up as well. The Department of Agriculture, a.k.a The Department of Rabbitculture, who supplied them with those seeds will be so happy to get the good news, I'm sure.

Rain Again

It is raining again right now. Oh, this is just my luck. The bunnies will probably claim it washed the milk mixture they put on the pumpkins and squash off, and thus they need to hop back out to reapply it tomorrow. I shudder to think of how much good being fed that milk mixture two days in a row would do those horrible plants. Oh, I hate rain so much it isn't funny. Do you know with every drop a cucumber packs on ounces?

Powdery Mildew

The squash and pumpkins are up to something, and I'm sure the watermelon are in on it too. The bunnies found a whitish, powdery substance on the squash and pumpkin leaves today, and they suspect that they're dealing with an infestation of powdery mildew. Anyway, they were told a treatment for this was to cover the plants with a milk and water mixture, so of course they hopped right away to mix it up and rush it out. Need I remind anyone here that this milk mixture is the same thing as food for those delinquent plants? They have faked powdery mildew just to get fed more often. I just know it! I swear I heard the bathroom window opening last night, and talcum powder is missing. Those delinquent plants probably sprinkled it on to fake mildew and get more food! The bunnies fed them a big, thirty ounce serving of supper! We're doomed! Doomed, I tell you! Doomed!

Squash Blossoms

The squash is starting to blossom, I'm very alarmed to announce. It's only one or two so far, but I'm sure the others will start to flower shortly, which is very alarming, seeing as the bunnies have out hundreds of the pesky plants! Does anyone have any idea of the potential damage hundreds of squash plants can cause?

Thursday Planting Report

The bunnies extended their squash bed this afternoon, and then poked out two bowls of squash and cucumbers. All I can say after seeing their planting is that we shall never see our poor neighbors again. They're thinking of finishing up extending the squash bed soon, and then working on digging more beds, and planting corn. I hope the neighbors upped their home insurance.

Independance Day Planting

To celebrate Independance Day, the rabbits poked out two bowls packed totally full of squash. I'll bet they had a hundred of the pesky little things in there. They stuck out more tomatoes too. They're trying a new location with those, hoping to keep them out of the beaks of my bird renters. I shudder to think what might happen if the new location on the bed works well. I wonder if our poor neighbors are insured?

More Squash

The rabbits planted two bowls of something rather alarming in the squash family today. I'm starting to get concerned. They've almost filled their second bed full of squash and they're talking about digging another bed, or possibly expanding their second one to hold more of their plants. How worried should I be? They already dug up a ton more space in one of their beds this evening, and they're talking about digging even more bright and early in the morning. I wonder if I would have time to hide their little shovels before sunrise? They're making plans to put in beds for the beans very soon, and then possibly a nice, shady bed location for a ton of lettuce.

Wednesday Planting Report

The rabbits moved some peppers, I suspect jalepenos, outside today, along with more cucumbers, a few watermelon and a tomato seedling that was hanging out with the watermelon. How bad of a sign do you suppose it is that many of the tomatoes that they popped out last week have second, third and in a few cases fourth sets of leaves? So many of those tomatoes are of the indeterminate kind, too, which is the delinquent plant of the tomato world. Oh, and all of the cucumbers have second leaves, and many are working on their third leaves. I try not to think of the zucchini, and the squash is growing alarmingly along with the pumpkins. The watermelon looks nice too, in the latest terrible news for our neighbors. I just know it's going to head for their house as soon as it gets a few leaves on it. I just hope they don't have pay per view up there.

Tuesday Planting Report

The bunnies moved another bowl of something in the squash family outside today. I believe there were close to thirty plants, too. Do you suppose insurance covers that? They have a little bed they're filling with squash, and they're planning to expand it as their little plants grow bigger.

Thursday Cucumber Update

The rabbits moved another bowl of cucumbers outside today, and came hopping in to happily announce that their plants are doing wonderfully, and second leaves are everywhere. I don't even want to think of how many cucumbers they have now. They moved more to bowls too, and currently have 2 fresh bowls filled. Shouldn't that many cucumber be illegal? I don't even want to think of the bowl of squash they moved out as well.

Wednesday Planting and Seeding Report

The rabbits hurried a bowl of something in the squash family and a bowl of cantaloupe and watermelon outside today. They're talking about hopping out in a bit to put out some more cucumbers, but I'm not sure if they will or not. It's storming, and I don't think they have enough wraps for everyone to keep their ears in place. They planted the cantaloupe and watermelon rather close to one of our poor neighbors. Should I go ahead and tell those poor dogs to snag their humans and run? Anyway, after popping this out, they hurried to refill the bowls with more cucumbers and butternut squash. I really hope our neighbors have their suitcases at the ready.

Butternut Squash

The bunnies moved 40 butternut squash seeds to a bowl today, and they have another 36 that are awaiting moving. I've heard that each squash can produce twenty pounds each of vegetables. If the bunnies get a plant for each seed, that will be 1520 pounds of squash from just those seeds alone! Can I be forced to convert to vegetarianism to help them eat all of that?

Flipping their Lids!

The lids are off of all of the plants except a couple of the flowers! They were holding too much moisture in and some plants spoiled, so all lids are off except the ones on the cosmos and morning glories due potential poison issues. What am I going to do? All of those horrible, horrible, squash, pumpkin, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon and beans are looking at me suspiciously and I just know that now that they aren't safely locked under their little lids that they're going to get going full force with their plan of conquest! What am I going to do? Only a screen is holding them back from getting into the yard and heading for our poor, unsuspecting neighbors!

Today's Seed Alert

The seed is expanding even more. The bunnies took the lids off of some of the little bowls today to let their little plants stretch out for awhile. Does anyone think I need to phone the neighbors about this? It's all squash, zucchini, watermelon and pumpkin, a frightening amount of them too. They're lounging in the sink right by a window! What if they get out?

More Alarming Seed Developments

More alarming seed developments here. The sweet basil is sprouting, along with the kohlrabi, and the fennel is looking highly suspicious to me. I don't even want to think about the beans. I knew that one bean seed that sprouted would lead to more alarming growth! Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can work out the average speed of the squash or zucchini vine in comparison to the average speed of a feline? I have some friends around here who I'm rather concerned about, thinking about their chances of escaping the bunnies' plants. And they're trying to work out more seed to start too! They brought home little, lidded salad bowls today to fill with dirt and transfer seedlings to! Then they can reuse the baggies to start more seed!
