Sorry to Announce

I am very sorry to announce the continuing health of the squash in the bunnies' garden. I'm afraid we've had a good bit of rain recently, and it has provided horrible encouragement for the plant. It's rather fat at the moment, and bright green, just lounging out there, waiting for the rabbits to start lagging out gallons of milk to feed it, and encourage more growth. I've seen suspicious movement from the watermelons as well, and I just know those things are plotting their path to our poor neighbors' homes even as we speak.

Our Late Neighbors

The rain worked. The Kharboza melon, the Russian pumpkin, and the local pumpkins are sprouting, which is a horrible sign. The other seeds are sure to sprout at any time, I am sure. Our poor neighbors. I will be very sad to see them go, but I don't see there is any choice. The rain also helped the bunnies' watermelons, which can reach a hundred feet in length. Unless our neighbors want to be overtaken by giant vegetables in the middle of the night, they should flee now.

Update on Seeds

Our neighbors spent yesterday foolishly shooting off fireworks, instead of packing their bags to flee. They will pay for that decision now, is all that I can say, and I hope they know they have no one to blame but themselves. The bunnies poked out more watermelon today, this time a funny gray kind from Charleston, and then a jumbo pack of okra. They didn't get it exactly where they wanted it, but they're sure that it can be moved, once they have sprouts. And once it is moved, the neighbors might as well say goodbye to their homes.

More Food

Those awful plants were fed another sixty ounces of that milky mixture this afternoon. Honestly, they should be so ashamed of themselves, faking powdery mildew just to net extra feedings. It's alarming how much good it's doing them too. The watermelon will be sneaking through the fence by tomorrow, I expect, and then the poor dogs next door are doomed the next time they take a walk.

Powdery Mildew

The squash and pumpkins are up to something, and I'm sure the watermelon are in on it too. The bunnies found a whitish, powdery substance on the squash and pumpkin leaves today, and they suspect that they're dealing with an infestation of powdery mildew. Anyway, they were told a treatment for this was to cover the plants with a milk and water mixture, so of course they hopped right away to mix it up and rush it out. Need I remind anyone here that this milk mixture is the same thing as food for those delinquent plants? They have faked powdery mildew just to get fed more often. I just know it! I swear I heard the bathroom window opening last night, and talcum powder is missing. Those delinquent plants probably sprinkled it on to fake mildew and get more food! The bunnies fed them a big, thirty ounce serving of supper! We're doomed! Doomed, I tell you! Doomed!

Pumpkin Growth Report

The milk supper the bunnies fed the pumpkins last night was very good for the horrible plants. I can see visible growth that's already taken place, and it's only been a day! What if they start serving it daily meals? Can you imagine how frighteningly large that terrible plant could end up getting then? Oh, and the watermelon they fed seems to be doing suspiciously well too. It's already sending out a viney limb to snag the unwary. I am very concerned. Do you think I should drink the rest of the milk before they can use it to mix more food for the plants?

Feeding the Pumpkin

The rabbits mixed up a lovely milk supper for their pumpkins, and hopped out to feed them a bit ago. I'm very concerned. Milk will only encourage more growth, and even worse, I think the watermelons might have been fed too! I wonder if the growth I've read about in the books is with feeding or without? If it's without, then we are all in big, big trouble.

Friday's Seed Updates

I'm afraid the spaghetti squash is doing very well, and is rapidly heading towards second leaves. The watermelon is starting to vine, too, and more tomato seedlings that I want to think about are starting to sprout. About the only good seed that I can see is the bushel gourd, that seems to have popped up this afternoon. Now if that will just start producing fast so I can get more real estate on the market.

To Make My Day Worse

To make the day worse, the rabbits managed to visit one of those horrible buffet places, with bars just packed full of rabbit food. They came hopping home with 110 watermelon seed! They gave them a quick wash, and now have them setting on the counter to dry a bit before poking them out. Can you imagine how much havoc that many watermelon could cause? Don't these restaurants have some sort of rules against helping bunnies so?

HELP! Call the Police! Watermelon Sprouting!

What department of the local police department deals with this? I don't know if anyone remembers, but a couple of months ago, the rabbits got 46 watermelon seed at a buffet that is so guilty of encouraging bunnies, it isn't funny. Anyway, they finally gave up on sprouting them in a bag, and poked them out in the yard. Well, they're SPROUTING like crazy! Who do I have to call to file a report about this? Those poor dogs next door. They are doomed.

Noted About the Cucumber

Did you know that the cucumber plant sends out these little vines that grab hold of things as they drag their big vines forward in their plot of conquest? I wonder if all of the viney plants have these little grabby vines. If so, our neighbors, or more specifically, our neighbors' dogs, are really in trouble. They're less than fifty feet from a mass of watermelon plants that can grow to a hundred feet. If those vines have the little grabbers, the poor dogs will be captured and never seen again! Should I pop out in the morning and tell them to run now? I might be able to open their gate to aid them in this fleeing.

Wednesday Planting Report

The rabbits moved some peppers, I suspect jalepenos, outside today, along with more cucumbers, a few watermelon and a tomato seedling that was hanging out with the watermelon. How bad of a sign do you suppose it is that many of the tomatoes that they popped out last week have second, third and in a few cases fourth sets of leaves? So many of those tomatoes are of the indeterminate kind, too, which is the delinquent plant of the tomato world. Oh, and all of the cucumbers have second leaves, and many are working on their third leaves. I try not to think of the zucchini, and the squash is growing alarmingly along with the pumpkins. The watermelon looks nice too, in the latest terrible news for our neighbors. I just know it's going to head for their house as soon as it gets a few leaves on it. I just hope they don't have pay per view up there.

Not the Watermelon

Okay, I doublechecked, and it isn't the watermelon with the second leaves yet. It's pumpkin, which is just as bad, I suppose. I wonder if our neighbors will have enough time to pack their bags and leave town if I pop up tonight with a warning? I probably should go now, but frankly it's too hot. I don't have much time to warn them, though. The bunnies are discussing mixing up a lovely, milk dinner for their plants soon!

Speaking of Watermelon

I am very upset to report that the watermelon the bunnies poked out yesterday is doing well, and second leaves are beginning to develop. Apparently, severe weather and a ton of rain is good for them. Anyway, how worried should the neighbors be, or more specifically, how worried should their dogs be? The watermelons are planted roughtly 50 feet or so from their dwelling, and watermelon vines can grow 100 feet.

So Doomed I Don't Even Want to Think of It

The humans have a second family reunion this weekend. As if it isn't bad enough that reunions result in a stunning lack of rabbit supervision, they actually purchased a watermelon, a cantaloupe and a honeydew melon for this gathering. Do you know that those things contain hundreds of seed each? Each of them were cut up and made into little balls for serving this evening, and of course, the rabbits gathered all of the seed they could get their little paws on. They're planning to post to one of their mailing lists to learn the best way to dry it and plant it in just a bit. Our neighbors should just move now and save themselves some heartache.

Wednesday Planting and Seeding Report

The rabbits hurried a bowl of something in the squash family and a bowl of cantaloupe and watermelon outside today. They're talking about hopping out in a bit to put out some more cucumbers, but I'm not sure if they will or not. It's storming, and I don't think they have enough wraps for everyone to keep their ears in place. They planted the cantaloupe and watermelon rather close to one of our poor neighbors. Should I go ahead and tell those poor dogs to snag their humans and run? Anyway, after popping this out, they hurried to refill the bowls with more cucumbers and butternut squash. I really hope our neighbors have their suitcases at the ready.

A Moment of Silence, Please

May we have a moment of silence, please, for the poor, unfortunate neighbors who are soon to be homeless? The rabbits are in the mountains tonight, 15 of them, too. Lily Rabbit hopped into the car while the humans were changing for a graduation, bringing the bunny total to 15. There will not be an berry bushes left in the mountains with that many rabbits, and I imagine Betsy's already snuck off to rob the poor, snoozing mountain bears. I just hope she doesn't tamper with their alarm clocks again. Anyway, on their way to the mountains, the rabbits stopped for lunch. This place is obviously part of a conspiracy with rabbits, because along with serving a salad bar full of rabbit food, they offered watermelon, just packed with seeds ripe for planting! The bunnies got 46 watermelon seed and a honeydew melon seed. Watermelon can take 100 feet a plant, so you can imagine what 46 seeds could do. Really, this restaurant should be so ashamed it isn't funny!

Flipping their Lids!

The lids are off of all of the plants except a couple of the flowers! They were holding too much moisture in and some plants spoiled, so all lids are off except the ones on the cosmos and morning glories due potential poison issues. What am I going to do? All of those horrible, horrible, squash, pumpkin, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon and beans are looking at me suspiciously and I just know that now that they aren't safely locked under their little lids that they're going to get going full force with their plan of conquest! What am I going to do? Only a screen is holding them back from getting into the yard and heading for our poor, unsuspecting neighbors!

Today's Seed Alert

The seed is expanding even more. The bunnies took the lids off of some of the little bowls today to let their little plants stretch out for awhile. Does anyone think I need to phone the neighbors about this? It's all squash, zucchini, watermelon and pumpkin, a frightening amount of them too. They're lounging in the sink right by a window! What if they get out?

Watermelon

The watermelon escaped to a bowl just a bit ago. Honestly, that makes two bowls full of it so far, and as I said before, those things can take over 100 square feet per plant! I swear I saw the seedlings leaning their leaves suspiciously towards the neighbor's house, too. Anyway, the bunnies added San Marzano tomatoes to the bag as soon as the watermelon was gone. It was a small bag, and that was all they could poke in with the pumpkin seed already living there.
